The LitterNet Project
-
There is a multiplicity of organisations struggling to reduce the flow of plastic to the wider environment and many are competing against each other for resources and publicity, many are working in isolation with little communication or sharing between them.
This project aims to bring all these groups together, within and across sectors, to reach a consensus for action. -
The diagram (left) shows the main elements that comprise the overall solution.
One problem we have identified is the high 'conflation' rate and lack of clarity around those elements: different aspects requiring different messages, different timelines and different types of activity. -
These are reflected in the different discussion forums.
In each case the aim is to share information across the wider community and jointly develop solutions. Along the way it is hoped that consensus can be developed through sharing and updating information.
The Scarab Trust is a registered charity set up in to work at a local level, helping bridge the gap between the providers of environmental information and those who need it, helping communities to find solutions together.
